Workshop on Payments for Ecosystem Services

Mexico has become a leader in the design and implementation of Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES), including payments for hydrological services, biodiversity conservation and carbon fixation by forests. For the first time, this workshop will bring together project beneficiaries, policy makers, brokers, researchers and social organisations to analyse the effectiveness of Mexico's PES programmes. A number of case-study presentations and discussion groups will help to visualise the way in which programmes can be improved and will serve as a basis for the production of practical guide for PES implementation, written in Spanish and targetting policy makers and project developers across Latin America, to be published in late 2007.
