Latest Events and Conferences

The Tyndall Centre holds and contributes to regular events and presentations on climate change issues throughout the country. Through these events we seek to engage with other researchers, key stakeholders such as business leaders, policy advisors, NGOs, agencies and the media as well as the public in general. We also use the events as opportunities to share our research results, promote discussion and raise awareness of climate change issues and potential solutions.

Heading to 4 degrees: Implications and ways out

The Tyndall Centre and Oxford University are hosting a joint side-event during the high-level policy segment of Copenhagen COP15 on Thursday 17th December 2009 at 16:30—18:00, Halfdan Rasmussen room

Thursday, December 17, 2009 - 15:30

4 Degrees and Beyond: Implications for people, ecosystems and the earth system

Despite 17 years of political negotiations since the Rio Earth Summit, global greenhouse gas emissions have continued to rise, which presents the global community with a stark challenge: Either instigate an immediate and radical reversal in existing emission trends or accept global temperature rises well beyond 4°C.

This scientific conference will for the first time (1) assess the consequences of a change in global temperature above 4°C for a range of systems and sectors and (2) explore the options that are open for avoiding climate changes of this magnitude.

This is an open call for participants and for abstracts for presentations and posters under the themes of: i) Agriculture, Water and Food Security ii) Vulnerable People and Places iii) Ecosystems and ecosystem services iv) Earth system feedbacks and thresholds v) Emissions reductions.

From Cromer to Kyoto: a journey discovering climate change and how we can make a difference

A three-dimensional hands-on interactive exhibition at Norwich Cathedral to be launched at the BA Festival of Science 2006, funded by Defra. The exhibition takes the form of a journey through time and visitors follow a trail narrated by a lively inquisitive cartoon character, Sally. She is a 10 year old from Cromer, Norfolk, who asks her granddad 'what's climate change got to do with me?'
