Task 2.1, Carbon lock-in. Transitions Towards More Sustainable Energy Systems: A broad technological shift is becoming increasingly apparent within energy systems. This includes the move to the development and deployment of small-scale 'distributed' energy sources. Both fossil fuel technologies (e.g. fuel cells and micro turbines) and renewable technologies (wind turbines etc.) are starting to benefit from economic and environmental incentives.
