Research Interests

Mirjam Roeder is a Research Associate within the Sustainable Consumption Institutes Theme 3 flagship project, exploring the implications of climate change adaptation and mitigation for food supply chains. Her research interests focus on global adaptation and mitigation strategies for agriculture and food systems, food security, trade and sustainability issues. Apart from her interest in climate change research Mirjam has a strong background in agriculture, development and gender studies. In her PhD research Mirjam examined meal security in urban areas in Central Sudan using a cultural ecological approach which takes environmental, technological, socio-economic, political, social and cultural matters into account and analyses the interactions within a system and between the human being, society and nature. In her research Mirjam strongly follows interdisciplinary approaches which support the examination of the different facets of problems by taking a holistic view of issues.

In previous jobs Mirjam worked in Hamburg and Berlin as a project manager and consultant in advertising and PR. Her customers were internationally leading companies of the agro-chemistry and logistics sector.

Mirjam's research interests are interdisciplinary approaches examining interdependences of food and consumer behavior, agricultural and economic development under the perspectives of globalisation and changing environments and societies.
